The Internet Movie Database (imdb) finally put my short on their site. You can find my full profile here. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2846786/
Just an update on what Ive been up to professionally. Im still working at Sony Pictures Imageworks (nearing the 2yr mark). A film that I worked on for nearly a year is finally getting close to coming out. You can find the trailer and info here http://www.cloudywithachanceofmeatballs.com/. Im currently working on Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland as a character modeler. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1014759/
Bah, most of the old links don’t work from the post below. Its just a bunch of old news anyway. So, this is my new way I will be updating the news on my site. I’ve been blogging now for about a year. It started with my first film http://ericprovan.blogspot.com/ and continues with my newest film http://lonelyscrim.blogspot.com/. I find it a good way to express myself, stay organized, and keep people (Mom and Dad) in the loop.
Most of my time right now is going towards squeezing my 3 legged cats (thats right, catS), pinching my wife, and working on my short film The Lonely Mr. Scrim.
3D total recently ran an interview that I did for them, which you can read HERE
Enjoy!
-Eric Provan
First off, I recently did an
interview with 3D Creative Magazine. The
gang over there has always been great to me,
and doing this interview was an absolute
honor. Its about 12mb, you can read it by
CLICKING HERE. Be sure to check out
3Dcreative magazine for other great
articles, images, and info.
My work was also chosen to be in a few
different books. You’ll find my Nurse
character “Flu Shot Anyone” in the newest
volume of “Digital Art Master’s”, as well as
the prestigious “Elemental 3, the Worlds
Best Autodesk art”. How cool is that?! Both
books should be up on Amazon within a few
months.
I’m still trucking along at Sony Pictures
Imageworks. I’ve had the pleasure of working
on some truly amazing projects.
Unfortunately, none have been released quite
yet. I’ll be sure to update once they hit
theatres.
Be sure to check out all the new projects in
the
3D section.
The most recent projects all have stories to
accompany them.
I just updated my Demo reel as well. You can
find it in the
demo
reel section. Enjoy!
January 06, 2008: Happy New
Year Everyone! Wow, were do I start? First
off, I have a new modeling demo reel up for
2008. It was chosen to be shown on the top
page at
cgtalk.com which is a great honor. Be
sure to check it out in the demo reel
section of my site.
I was recently interviewed
by the Chinese website
www.CGfinal.com for their magazine CGArt.
Its a great honor and I can’t wait to see
the end result. Once its completed I’ll be
sure to post it here. Its incredible to know
that my art has been seen all across the
world. Thank you internet =)
I put up my most recent
piece in the 3D section. Its called “Poof!”.
I also wrote a little story for it. Enjoy!
Last, but certainly not
least.
December 14, 2007: Happy
Holidays everyone! Wow, its been quite a
while since I wrote an update (I have
however been quietly updating the site’s
3d section with
new stuff). So, I’ll do my best to get you
up to date. First off, I’m still working for
Sony Pictures Imageworks. It really is honor
to work for Imageworks, and I love the
environment there. We should start seeing
teasers for the film I’m working on very
soon, and I will be sure to post once that
happens.
I had the honor of being
interviewed by my alma mater Full Sail
college. Its kind of funny reading the
article now. At the time I did it, I
couldn’t talk much about the project I was
working on at Henson, so it looks very top
secret and shouldn’t have =) Anyway, you can
check out the article by
CLICKING FULL SAIL INTERVIEW.
A film I worked on briefly
for the Cartoon network / Super78, just
aired. While I didn’t do much more then a
few weeks of work on it (1 Character model),
I’m excited about it because its my first
film credit.

character I modeled by

May 4, 2007: Hi
everyone! Thanks for stopping by. I’ve been
a little slow on updates, and I’m sorry for
that. I just wrapped up work at the Jim
Henson Creature Shop. What an amazing
experience that was. Inspiration just flows
through the Jim Henson studio, and I’m glad
to have worked under one of my hero’s names
=) The people at the Henson company are
wonderful and I really wish them the best.
With that said, I just
accepted my next job. I’ll be working as a
Modeler at the highly successful
Sony Pictures Imageworks. I start
there on June 4th, and you can just imagine
how excited I am about the opportunity. In
the next month I’ll be doing a few odd jobs
and hopefully finishing my short film.
Please stay tuned for a lot of updates in
the next month.
I added a few new characters
to the 3d section. Check them out and let me
know what ya think.
March 1, 2007: Major
League Baseball 2k7 was released a few days
ago for the Xbox 360. The reviews so far
have been very flattering, and im proud to
say that I was a part of the great team that
put the visuals together. I also had another
piece of art work published in the leading
3d magazine “3DWorld Magazine”. You can see
my Opossum character in February’s issue.
Work at the Henson Creature Shop is going
extremely well. Sorry for the lack of
updates. I’ve been spending a ton of my free
time working on my short film. I’ll post
some pics soon enough though.
February 12, 2007: I
had my last day at 2ksports/kush games
today. It was a hard decision to leave Kush,
but I’m a passionate person, and my passion
is presently lies in film and TV. Tomorrow I
start The Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in
Hollywood. Henson is a hero of my mine, and
its an honor to be working under his
legendary name. Check back soon for updates.
I’ll be adding some 2d sketches as well as a
new personal project very soon.
January 28, 2007: Added a new project to the
3d section. Enjoy!
January 21, 2007: I
made a few changes to the site. Just
cleaning things up. I also added some new
work to the 3d section.
January 10, 2007: The
great folks over at 3dcreative magazine
where kind enough to let me show off the
article I wrote for them covering the making
of my Surfer Dude character.
You can check out the article by CLICKING

January 2, 2007: Happy
New Year everyone! A couple of very cool
things happened over the break. First off,
My new Demo reel has the honor of being
chosen to be on the top row over at
cgsociety.org. Thus giving the reel a lot of
exposure and great feedback. You can check
it out by clicking
HERE (CGsociety Reel Thread) Also, my
reel is being featured over at CGarena’s
“Cream of the crop” demo reel section. You
can check that out by clicking
HERE (CGarena Reel Section).
December 21, 2006: Well, that just about does it for another
year, and what an amazing one it was. I
really couldn’t be happier. The hard work
has been paying off. Just look at the
difference in quality from my 3d work in
2005 to my work in 2006. To say that I’m
obsessed with this 3d stuff is an
understatement. I just can’t get enough of
it =) Work is great. 2Ksports/Kush games
have really taken care of me, and while I
still have a great thirst to get into the
animation/film industry, I’m very happy with
my current situation at Kush games. As I
stated before, I really am obsessed with 3D,
and that can take quite a toll on ones
personal life. So, I want to take this
moment to thank my extremely understanding
and supportive girlfriend Holly (my favorite
girlfriend out of the 14 that I have,
kidding =), as well as my wonderful family,
and semi-wonderful friends =) Thanks so much
for helping me follow this dream. Ok, with
all that said lets move on to the fun stuff.
First, be sure to check out the Jan. issue
of 3dworld magazine, where you’ll find my
“Say Cheese” piece featured. Also, I added a
couple new projects to the 3d section,
including a furry little opossum. The
biggest thing I learned from that project is
that Opossum is spelled Opossum. I also
updated my demo reel which can be found in
the
demo reel
section. Well, that’s
about it. Enjoy, and thanks for a great year!
November 09, 2006: Well, if you haven’t noticed yet, there’s a
new image in the 3D section. Its basically a
tribute to Norman Rockwell. A couple of big
things happened this week. First off,
2KSports has released some screenshots of
the game I’m working on, you can find them
by clicking
HERE. Secondly, the Nov Issue of
3DCreative Magazine is out. In this issue,
you’ll find a small bio on page 5, another
Gallery image (”Say Cheese”) on page 78, and
an article I wrote starting on page 105. I
also got word this week that my “Say Cheese”
image was chosen to be published in the Jan.
issue of 3DWorld Magazine. This will be the
third different magazine to publish my work.
Exciting stuff! Well, at least for me it is
=) Click the Banners below to check out the
Magazine’s.
October 22, 2006: My
“Surfer Dude” project has been published in
the Oct. issue of CGArena. Find out more in
the Professional Work section of my site.

October 11,2006: There are a couple cool things going on in
my 3D life that I thought I’d share. First
off, My first published piece (Surfer Dude)
can be seen in this month’s issue of
3DCreative Magazine, which is already out.
Also, I just found out this morning that my
newest piece (Say Cheese!) was also picked
to be published in the Nov. Issue. The hard
work seems to be paying off. Who would have
thought hard work could be so fun! =)
September 29, 2006: I
have a new piece up. He’s quite the looker
too! You can find him in the 3D section.
I’ve also continued to add interaction
quicktime’s to my characters. Since the last
update I have added the Cyborg, Mech Spider,
Creature from the Black Lagoon, Medusa,
Forest Guardian, Dancing Elephant, and the
Transformations. Check em out!
September 27, 2006: I’ve been adding some really cool
interactive quicktime’s to my character
pages. So far I’ve done the bird creature,
civil war soldier, discus thrower, and
cowboy. Definitely check out those
characters in the 3D sections. I also have
an updated demo reel, and I’m nearly
completion on a new creepy character =)
September 13, 2006: Well, here it is, the new and improved
website. I wish I could take credit for the
great design, but it all goes to my Uncle
Dom who put this together for me. (I can’t
thank you enough Dom!) Anyone looking to
update their online portfolio or start a new
site should check out his service at
http://www.architechsfortheweb.com/
Needless to say, I’m very
excited about the new site layout and I’m
feverishly updating things. Most noticeably,
the 3D section has a few new characters. I
also found out a few days ago that one of my
characters will be published in the Oct.
Issue of 3Dcreative Magazine. (My first
published piece, woohoo) I will also be
featured in the Nov. issue with a “Making
Of” article covering the process in which I
made my Surfer Dude. On top of that, I was
also awarded an excellence award from
www.3dtotal.com and my Surfer Dude will
be featured their character gallery. I’ll
make sure to post links once that stuff is
up. Things are Swell. Let me know what you
think of the new site!
September 7, 2006: Another new character!
Check Here to see…..
(She is the one with the Wine Glass and
something on her head!)
August 22, 2006: New
character! Scroll down…
August 19, 2006: I think this is the
longest I’ve ever gone without updating my site. It
certainly doesn’t mean I haven’t been working though!
I have a lot of very cool updates coming soon.
Including a newly designed website that my Uncle is
working on, as well as some new character’s and
animation’s. I don’t want to leave you hanging
though, so I’ve updated both of the
2D sections. Also check out my work in progress
page by
clicking here,
where you’ll find a LOT of new work =) Enjoy!
July 1, 2006:
Added a few 2D Pictures.
June 17, 2006: Just one update today. You can find it in the 3d section. Its called “intrigued”. Are you in intrigued? =) Oh yeah, I also updated the big nose guy in the 3D section. Enjoy
June 06, 2006: Ack 666?!?!? Well, even a scary date can’t keep me from updating! I added a new project I’m working on to the 3D section. An alien and his pet =) I also added a character that I finished last year but recently updated the render. He can be found in the 3D section, under 2005. He has 4 arms! =)
May 23, 2006: I figured it was time to finally update the 2Dsection. You can find new drawings in both the Sketch section and Anatomy section. I’m working on a few different models at the moment, and I’ll be sure to update once they are done. Enjoy!
May 5, 2006: Happy Cinco De Mayo.
Today’s update is a pretty big one. While life is wonderful at 2ksports, I thought it would be a good idea to keep my demo reel up to date. Click on Demo Reel at the top of the page to check it out. Also,
I’d love to hear some feedback, so feel free to email me at
eric_provan@yahoo.com. Thanks!
March 23, 2006: Updated the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Also, 2Ksports is releasing screenshots of MLB 2K6 for the
Xbox 360, so everyone can finally see some of my professional work. I ended doing 8 stadiums in total. The first batch of screenshots can be found
HERE
November 03, 2005: Hi everyone. Unfortunately this is just a quick status update. I am happy to say that the job hunt is over. I landed a position at 2ksports/kush games as a game artist a few weeks ago. You can read more about them at
www.2ksports.com. I should have some new artwork up within a few weeks, so keep checking back.
